Guest speaker at the dinner meeting was Rear Admiral Timothy S. Sullivan, USCG, Commander of the Forces Readiness Command and Deputy Commander of the Coast Guard's Pacific Area. The Admiral cited the outstanding support of the Navy League for the nation's sea services and the importance of providing such support to the men and women serving in today's military.
Officers to serve for 2011 include: Bill Kinsey, Clayton, 1st Vice President; Lorraine Hughey, Walnut Creek, VP for Youth Affairs; Jack and Gynithe LaSalle, Danville, VP Membership; Bill Sharkey III, Martinez, VP Communications; Lois Terrell, Rio Vista, Secretary; Myriam Clark, Moraga, Corresponding Secretary, and Steve Cruikshank, Pleasant Hill, Treasurer.
The Council will be honoring the Coast Guard, Navy and Marine Corps later this year and will coordinate the 70th Pearl Harbor Remembrance with local veterans groups. Events will be publicized and members of the public are encouraged to attend.
