| Eagles of Troop 212

On Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church, Boy Scout Troop 212 conducted a National Eagle Court of Honor to celebrate eleven outstanding young men earning the Eagle Award. Eagle is the highest award that a Scout can earn. Nationally, only about two percent of all boys who enter the Scouting program earn the award.
In reflecting upon this year's large group of Eagle honorees, Scoutmaster Rainer Del Valle said, "I am constantly amazed at the talent, dedication and honor that each of these scouts possess. They are awesome young men, and I am very proud of each and every one of them."
This year's Troop 212 Eagle Scout honorees are:
Brandon Luecker
Brandon is the fifth Eagle in the Luecker family. For his Eagle project, Brandon built and installed two large, portable utility closets for The Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) in Concord.
Matthew Haley
Matthew chose his Eagle project to benefit Campolindo High School's Choir. He replaced the music folder cabinet in the high school choir room with a new wooden cabinet.
Andres Del Valle
Andres's Eagle Service Project was carried out for the benefit Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church's nursery school, The Nurtury. Andres designed and installed planter boxes for the pre-school garden where the children can now plant seeds and flowers and watch them grow.
Nicholas McDonald
Nicholas' Eagle service project was carried out for the benefit of Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church. Nicholas built a storage facility for the church, in a replica of the homes built during the church's high school mission trips to Mexico.
Johnny Lomas
Johnny's Eagle Service Project was carried out for the benefit of Rancho Laguna Park in Moraga. He designed and installed a large wooden message board at the park where the town now posts important messages and announcements, and he built and installed two doggie bag holders at the park.
Karl Thornton
For his Eagle project, Karl built and installed two wooden benches in Castle Rock Regional Park. The benches sit at a lookout point on the trail and provide an excellent spot for bird watching, and for hikers to rest and enjoy the view while hiking the trails in the park.
Timothy Coleman
Tim's Eagle service project benefited Camino Pablo School. He built and installed an "office" sign and painted Bobcat paw prints to lead the way to the office from the front of campus. He also designed and installed two different landscape projects to beautify the school.
Griffin Piatt
Griffin is part of generations of Piatt scouting heritage starting with Dr. Tom Piatt, Griffin's grandfather, who was the Scoutmaster of Troop 303 in Orinda. Griffin's Eagle Project consisted of designing and installing five raised garden beds for the vegetable and flower garden at Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School.
Connor Rosenbaum
For his Eagle project, Connor replaced the benches and built roofs over the pony baseball field at Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School to benefit the Moraga Baseball Association.
Matthew Patera
Matt's Eagle project was for the benefit of The Audubon Society and Town of Moraga. He built and installed bat houses at the Moraga Commons Park, and an owl house at Rancho Laguna Park.
Peter Bellingham
Peter's Eagle Project was for the benefit of Rancho Laguna Park in Moraga. He built two wooden benches for the amphitheater there, completing the amphitheater renovation that was begun by two other local Eagle candidates.
