Cougars’ baseball earned a repeat championship, earning the NCS division II title for the second year in a row. The NCS championship, originally scheduled for Sunday, June 5 was postponed until Monday night, June 6. The wait did not cool the #4 Cougars as upset they #2 Clayton Valley Eagles. Clayton Valley was the first on the board going one-up on Campolindo early. Clayton Valley’s pitcher struggled in the second, walking two Cougars in a row. Campolindo took advantage and scored to tie the game at 1-1. Sophomore Brett Stephens then hit a grounder to give Campolindo a 2-1 lead. Campolindo took control to expand their lead 4-1. Clayton Valley responded and scored two to bring the game within one run, 4-3, in the sixth. In the top of the seventh, Campolindo loaded the bases and Clayton Valley walked in the run, giving the Cougars a 5-3 lead. Campolindo’s junior pitcher James Marvel closed out the seventh inning for the Cougars and securing the title. C.Graveson
