The Acalanes girls' lacrosse team trounced Las Lomas to clinch their third consecutive undefeated season in league play on May 13.
With the undefeated season secured, the Dons only one had objective left-the NCS Division II Championship, last taken home in 2005. Acalanes accomplished that goal on May 27 by defeating Marin Catholic.
The Dons handily defeated long-time rivals Miramonte, 14-9, to earn a berth in the final game against top-seeded Marin Catholic.
Marin seized an early 3-1 lead. Acalanes challenged in the midfield, disrupting Marin's passing and creating turnovers. The Dons found the net and by halftime tied the score at an even, 6-6.
Five minutes into the second half, Acalanes exploded, racking up five goals in succession for a 12-7 lead. Defenders Casey Reid, Taylor Ewing and Annie Beliveau held Marin out of scoring position and Hannah Borosky stuck to Marin's leading scorer with tough defense. Marin rallied, but could not close the gap. The Dons' goalie Ariana Johnson made several critical saves, eleven in all. The final score was 12-10.
The championship was a true team victory for the Dons as six players scored: Devon Frazer (3), Elizabeth Landry (3), Courtney Neff (2), Rebecca Frank (2), Chloe Landry (1) and Emily Ferreira (1).
Frazer was named to the US Lacrosse All-American First Team and Landry earned the title of DFAL MVP for a second time. Frazer, Landry, Neff, Reid and Johnson were honored as Academic All-Americans.
