Lafayette's 11-year-old All-Stars continued the most successful run in league history, advancing to the championship of Sectional play in Woodland. Behind a deep pitching staff, solid defense and torrid hitting, the locals won three games in three days against San Francisco 10-1, Napa 11-5 and Vacaville 12-0. The local stars finally met their match in the finals, against Petaluma National, losing 11-5.
Petaluma got out to a 9-0 lead before Lafayette began to battle back. Matty Vicencio led the way with four innings of solid relief and a towering 3-run homerun. Vicencio later added an RBI single to bring Lafayette within four runs, but it was not enough.
