Art and Wine Festival This Weekend

This weekend Mt. Diablo Boulevard will be transformed from a busy thoroughfare to the Art and Wine Festival from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. A year in the making, this will be the sixteenth year of terrific, free, continuous live music on four stages over two days, with over 250 fine arts and crafts booths, restaurants, microbreweries and a wide variety of tasty food. Kids, as usual, have their own special entertainment area and activities. Come out and cheer for local bands like Dave Martin's House Party and Pladdohg at the stage near the Premium Wine booth.
Although the festival is free, the beverages are not. Thirsty patrons will need to buy a special Festival glass and drink tickets and proof of age is required; money raised benefits Lafayette Partners in Education along with other non-profit groups.
Parking at La Fiesta Square and of course along Mt. Diablo Boulevard will be prohibited after 4:00 p.m. on Friday. During the Festival, parking is available at the upper lot of the Lafayette BART station - there will be a shuttle running all day between BART and the Festival. "We've reached critical mass, so we really want to suggest that folks take BART or bike. There will be additional indoor locked bicycle parking this year," said Jay Lifson, Executive Director of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce.
In years past many people have brought their dogs, organizers want to remind pooch owners that they must be leashed and under control at all times - and bring your own water for Fido. They also encourage arriving in the morning while sidewalks are cooler and substantially less crowded, making for a happier and safer visit for your four-legged friend.
