The inauguration coincided with the celebration of the 5th anniversary of a business that has brought to Lafayette a specialized studio for fashion design and sewing. Orinda Taxi Gets Green Business Award
From the get-go five years ago, Julian Juricevic paid close attention to the impact his new business had on the environment and bought only hybrid vehicles. Now the expanding Orinda business that serves Lamorinda and beyond was recognized by the Contra Costa Green Business Program and received a Green Business Certificate on December 15. "Orinda Taxi has successfully demonstrated full compliance with local environmental regulatory services and taken action to conserve natural resources and protect the environment," said Robin Bedell-Walte, Green Business Program Coordinator. This award follows an already impressive list of public recognition this business has won, such as Orinda Business of the Year in 2011and the Contra Costa Best Small Business in Orinda in 2010.

LamorindaWeb's Home Expo '12 on Saturday, January 28
LamorindaWeb is organizing their first annual Home Expo on Saturday, January 28 from 10am to 4pm at the Lafayette Events Center (formerly the Veteran's Memorial Building). The show includes, but is not limited to, kitchen and bath remodeling, flooring, interior design, home security and solar products as well as the latest landscaping options. It will feature local remodelers, builders, and design professionals. The event is free to the public and will include speakers, workshops, seminars, food for purchase by Huckleberry Cafe to Go, and kids activities by Diana O'Daniels and 4th grade Girl Scout Troop 33005 (supporting Foster a Dream). ACI Celebrates 20th Anniversary
Association Communication Inc., the Moraga based company that manages Homeowner Associations in California and beyond, is inviting the community to celebrate 20 years of expansion and continuous services. ACI's owner, Caroline McCormick, wants to take the opportunity to show off the company's new location at 533 Moraga Road, across from the Rheem Center. "We look forward to seeing the clients and vendors that helped ACI reach this important milestone," she said. The party will be held in suite 200, 3-6pm, on Friday January 27th.

On Thursday, December 12, Chamber Executive Director Jay Lifson drew the winners of the Try Lafayette First holiday campaign 3/50. The campaign was a great success as residents turned in their receipts for $50 or more from at least three different Lafayette businesses. The three winners are Micheline Reeder, Larry Blodgett and Helen Ann Licht. Lifson was very happy to give them each the Visa gift cards they received as prizes.

Moraga
First Business Meeting of the year on Friday, January 27th at the Hacienda de las Flores. Networking begins at 7:30am with warm scones and coffee provided by Terzetto Cuisine. Frank Melon will launch his first meeting as President at 8am with opening remarks and then turn the floor over to the Members.

Art Gallery Relocates

On Saturday, January 14 Wenda Pyman cut the ribbon inaugurating the new location of the Moraga Art Gallery. The new place, next to TJ Maxx, may be a bit smaller than the previous spot at the Rheem Center, but the warm lights and thick carpet make the gallery warm and inviting.

Orinda
The Chamber's Orinda Country Club Luncheon is scheduled for Friday, February 24, noon-1:30pm at the Orinda Country Club, 315 Camino Sobrante. The cost is $30 per person. The luncheon's speaker will be award-winning weekend anchor for NBC Bay Area News, and Orinda resident, Diane Dwyer.
