| Andrea Ward, a sophomore at UC Santa Barbara and a former swimmer with Orinda Aquatics, was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's Athlete of the Year after she won three individual event titles and three relay titles at the MPSF Championships held on February 15-18 in Los Angeles. Ward set meet records in the 100 fly (52.98), 200 fly (1:59.16) and 200 medley relay (1:39.63). During the college season, Ward also set school records in the 100 fly, 200 fly, 800 free relay and 200 free.
Ward qualified for the 2012 NCAA Division 1 College Swimming Championships in Auburn, Alabama in mid-March. She will be swimming 100 and 200 Fly.
Ward swam with Orinda Aquatics for seven years from 2003 to 2010. She graduated from Campolindo High School in 2010.
Ward is also one of several Orinda Aquatics swimmers who have qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials. Sven Campbell and Steven Stumph (both juniors at Campolindo High School) will join Andrea at the Olympic Trials which will be held in Omaha, Nebraska this June.
