| Bay Area Reds Qualify for State Championships

The Bay Area Reds won the Super Series Super Regional held at the Mather Sports Complex outside Sacramento on June 2-3. By defeating the third ranked Central Valley Cobra's 6-0 in the final, the Reds earned a berth for the State Championships to be held July 19-23.
The Reds played solid defense throughout the weekend and got two great pitching performances to defeat the pre-tournament favorite CV Cobra's, twice. In the semi-final game, the Reds overcame a two run deficit with a leadoff single from Moraga standout, Lucas Allen. Allen stole second and scored on a single by Dalen 'X' Carter, who later tied the score on a balk.
With two outs another Moraga product, Luka Brown, stepped to the plate and delivered an inside the park home run that put the Reds ahead, 6-5.
Coach Shawn Brown is pleased with the progress of his team, which was formed through a suggestion from parents who wanted their children to play consistently higher competition outside Lamorinda.
