Patrons at Burger King in Moraga did not have it their way late Saturday afternoon when the area around the exhaust fan on the roof burst into flame. According to the Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD), a maintenance worker first alerted restaurant employees to the fire and the building was quickly evacuated
A whopping nine units from the Moraga-Orinda Fire District and Contra Costa Fire District responded to the fire. Battalion Chief Sean Perkins said that when they arrived on the scene they observed smoke and flames coming from the roof. “Firefighters laddered the roof and made an aggressive attack to stop the fire and contain it to the immediate area of origin,” he stated.
No injuries were reported. Damages are estimated at $5,000 and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
