| Boy Scout Troop 233 awarded six Eagle Scout rank awards for Zach Brooks, Jim Coon, Matt Riggins, Ryan Riggins and Neil Tripathi at a National Court of Honor Saturday, June 2 at Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church.
Campolindo sophomore, varsity golfer, and Moraga Country Club junior champion Jim Coon constructed 10 wood duck nesting boxes with marine grade plywood mounted on 10 foot steel posts, installing five nesting boxes set in concrete at the remote end of the Upper San Leandro Reservoir for his Eagle Scout service project.
Miramonte sophomore Zachary Brooks built and filled a 10-foot by 20-foot sandbox for Castle Rock Regional Recreation Area in Walnut Creek, and removed the old sandbox and sand. Miramonte sophomore and local rock band lead vocalist Connor McDonald installed numbered disks to trail markers in Briones Regional Park benefiting hikers, mountain bikers, ranchers, animals and search and rescue efforts. Miramonte senior Matthew Riggins refurbished all the benches on the trail surrounding the Lafayette Reservoir recreation area, and Miramonte grad Ryan Riggins installed backpack cubbies for the first through third grade classes at Glorietta Elementary School in Orinda.
Acalanes senior Neil Tripathi constructed and installed two steel and wood picnic benches (10-feet and 12-feet) in the Petanque Club grounds of the City of Lafayette.
All six Scouts earned their Eagle awards under the leadership of Scoutmaster Don Larwood with the Assistance of Bruce McGurk and Wes Riggins.
