| Boy Scout Troop 212 conducted a National Eagle Court of Honor Sunday, April 29 at Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church, which sponsors Troop 212, to celebrate 10 outstanding young men earning the Eagle Award. In reflecting upon this year's large group of Eagle honorees, Troop 212 Eagle Committee Chairman Eric Andresen said, "I am honored to recognize and officially introduce another group of outstanding gentlemen like these. This is what it's all about, and it makes the roll I play in the Troop one of the most rewarding experiences of my life."
This year's Troop 212 Eagle Scout honorees from Campolindo High School are:
Ben Thomas, who built shelving to store props for the Campolindo High School theatre department as his Eagle Service Award project; Rory Baker, who built a set of bookshelves and a sand box for the preschool program at St. Stephens Episcopal Church for his Eagle project; Conrey Giles, who built a trophy case for the Campolindo High School choir classroom; Cameron Bagley, who made extensive repairs and additions to the benches in the quad area at Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School; Andy Grubbs, who built planter boxes for Las Trampas school to enable the students to have a new source of learning and entertainment; Matt Cimino, who built a cart to transport and store a children's play structure for the MVPC Nurtury pre-school; Ryan Gannett, who built a ramp at the Xenophon Therapeutic Riding Center to enable disabled individuals to be able to ride horses; Kevin Blouse, who built three large storage boxes at the Animal Rescue Foundation; and Chris Maag, who designed and constructed two new dugout roofs for the Moraga Baseball Association's baseball field at Joaquin Moraga School.
This year's Eagle Scout honoree from Acalanes High School is Austin Franklin (AJ), who built a bench for the patio area beside the theatre for actors and ticket holders to use before performances at the Town Hall Theatre in Lafayette.
Eagle is the highest award that a Scout can earn. Nationally, only about two percent of all boys who enter the Scouting program earn the award. The Troop has an active program of campouts, summer camps, and high adventure activities. The Troop currently has almost 90 youth actively involved is its programs.
