| Three new Eagle Scouts have joined the Troop 233 Eagle family: Lukas Bittner, Bryant Chow and Matt Henry. They were recognized at Troop 233's Eagle Court of Honor Nov. 11 at the Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church in Orinda. Scoutmaster Don Larwood presented the Eagle awards, the highest rank in Boy Scouting. For his Eagle Scout project, Bittner - a Miramonte High School junior - installed a brick walkway at the Wagner Ranch Nature Area in Orinda. This walkway is in the garden area and will allow kids and staff to tend to the raised garden beds relatively mud-free. Chow, a senior at Miramonte High School, constructed and installed a six foot by three foot cross at the Main Hall for the Contra Costa Gospel Church in Walnut Creek. He also built three wooden benches for the church to enhance outdoor activities. And Miramonte High School senior Henry developed a project protecting the native bay oak from being overcrowded by invasive non-native weeds and trampled by cows. He protected 50 oaks that were deemed by the Briones ranger to be weak with wraparound chicken wire enclosures.
