| The life of the city's first mayor, the late Dick Heggie, will be celebrated in cerebral style at 11:30 a.m. today at the Orinda Country Club when George Breslauer, University of California's Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, and professor of Slavic Studies, discusses the sustainability of Russia's Putin regime at Orinda's first Dick Heggie Peace Symposium. The public event is being co-sponsored by Orinda Rotary and the Orinda Chamber of Commerce. A long-time Rotarian and co-founder of the Orinda-Tabor Sister City Foundation, Heggie will be remembered for his deep commitment to the community, as well as his distinguished international relations career which included 19 years with the Asia Foundation and service as an executive director of the World Affairs Council.
