Lafayette's Police Officer of the Year, Minh Vu, was recognized at a recent city council meeting. City Manager Steven Falk commented, "It's rare to have an officer actually change the culture of the city." Vu had asked Falk for a 20-minute meeting and made a case for his plan that would help solve traffic and speeding problems in Lafayette through the use of motorcycle patrol.
"People are driving slower in Lafayette," said Falk, acknowledging that there were some complaints initially, but now that drivers are aware, they really are driving more cautiously.
