| The Lamorinda Republican Women Federated recently delivered books to the Orinda Library in memory of deceased members Helen Kramer, Catherine Gedney, and Leona Wilson, all Orinda residents, through the National Republican Women Federated Mamie Eisenhower Library Project (MELP), which was created to promote literacy at every age level. It has been customary for RWF clubs to donate a book to either the schools or the libraries in memory of a deceased member. The Lamorinda RWF has a long and distinguished history of Republican activism and influence in the community; it provides blankets for foster children in Contra Costa County, quilts for soldiers through the Camo Quilt Project, raises funds for Sentinels of Freedom, supports Blue Star Moms, sends packages to the military, and books through MELP to libraries. The Lamorinda RWF was founded in 1950 and is the largest RWF club in the East Bay.
