Third Time's the Charm

St. Monica's fourth-graders played St. Mary's of Walnut Creek in an exciting match-up on March 2. Having lost to them twice during the season, St. Monica's pulled the upset, defeating them 42-40 to win the 2013 Oakland Diocese boys' basketball championship title. The team won the West Diablo championship on Feb. 17, which earned their entrance into the Oakland Diocese Championship Tournament. Coached by Marcus Schroeder, the Spartans' season went 11-2.
