Acalanes High School Sailing team

On March 9 and 10 the Acalanes High School Sailing team, a club sport at Acalanes High School, traveled to the Santa Barbara Yacht Club for the Gaucho Regatta. The Gaucho Regatta is organized by the UC Santa Barbara Sailing Team and sponsored by the Pacific Coast Interscholastic Sailing Association. The Acalanes team competed against 19 other high school teams from Northern and Southern California. After two days of competition, the Acalanes team placed second overall. The team members include: Sophia Browne, a junior at Acalanes High School and co-captain with Lola Rao, a junior at Acalanes High School; Lia Reilly, a sophomore at Acalanes, Chase Englehart, a freshman at Acalanes, and Ben Foox, an eighth-grader at Stanley Middle School. The sailing conditions were good, and the competition was fierce. The Acalanes team was very proud of their accomplishment.
