Electric vehicle charging stations coming this year

Moraga's Climate Action Plan involves reducing the town's overall greenhouse gas emissions by 15 percent, below 2005 levels, by the year 2020. The town's step in that direction was to purchase two dual-port electric vehicle charging stations expected to be operational later this year.
One of the EV charging stations will be located in the town offices parking lot at 329 Rheem Blvd. The second location will be in the main parking lot of the Moraga Commons Park off of St. Mary's Road. Each station will be able to charge two vehicles at once.
The cost of both stations will run $18,640. However, through a six month effort by the planning department, grant money was secured, thereby offsetting the cost to the town. CAP falls under the domain of the Capital Improvement Program's Fund 700 included in the Fiscal Year 2019-20 budget. The 511 Contra Costa Transportation Demand Management Program funding amounted to $15,120 and MCE (formerly Marin Clean Energy) came through with a $3,520 grant.
