The weather was near perfect for the 2019 Police motorcycle competition and Lamorinda Safety Fair July 20 at Saint Mary's College.
The event hosted by the Lafayette Police Department, the Lafayette Emergency Preparedness Commission and Lamorinda CERT gave all an opportunity to meet local first responders, try using a fire extinguisher, learn how to perform CPR and learn how to prepare for the next emergency or disaster. Of course all the first responder "toys" were a draw too, from the helicopter and fire engines to police cars and HazMat response vehicles.
The motorcycle competition featured officers from across the western U.S., showcasing their motorbike skills. All told, the motor officers raised $11,000 through the competition, which will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
