The Moraga-Orinda Fire District announced Sept. 24 that its community chipping service will resume Oct. 5. The program has been on hiatus since June while the district fire prevention staff conducted inspections and enforced exterior hazard abatement requirements.
"The district-funded chipper program is very popular and is a great way for MOFD to partner with district citizens and help remove hazardous vegetation from their property," Fire Marshal Jeff Isaacs said.
To submit a chipping service request or to obtain more information, contact the MOFD Fuels Mitigation Staff at chipperprogram@mofd.org or call (925) 258-4599. Once the request is submitted and program requirements are met, a Fuels Mitigation Specialist will be in contact to schedule the chipping service.
Priority scheduling will be given to Firewise neighborhoods and areas with large numbers of participating homeowners.
