| Published September 11th, 2024 | Margaret (Maggie) Mary Eggen | | | | | Margaret (Maggie) Mary Eggen (1931- 2024) is survived by her husband Norman; her four children David Wigginton, Thomas Wigginton, Sally Wigginton (Mary), Laura Waal (David), her grandchildren Katie and Ryan Waal, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
She had a wonderful life with her husband Norm. They married in 1971 and had a loving marriage for 52 years. He was by her side up until her last breath.
Maggie had a lively spirit that touched everyone around her. She shared many memories of growing up in a large Irish Catholic family (eight siblings: Sally, Billy, Patsy, Nancy, Bobby, Dicky, Margaret, Kay and John) in Berkeley, CA. Her stories, with many embellishments, kept everyone around her captivated and entertained. It was always difficult to distinguish between truth and fiction, but that didn't matter, we were all carried along.
She loved her life in Berkeley and Lafayette. She had an active lifestyle: tennis, yoga, exercise classes as well as walking the Lafayette Reservoir. She and her friend Ann Hooper started placing holiday decorations on their "Charlie Brown Christmas tree" at the Lafayette Reservoir. This tradition brought joy to anyone walking around the reservoir. Maggie was also a generous and empathic person. She volunteered at various places and helped many people in need. Her faith ran deep beginning in her Catholic upbringing to her current involvement at Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church.
She will be missed by all, yet her charismatic spirit will continue on through our memories.
