The City of Orinda names new Police Chief

Orinda: The City of Orinda is pleased to share that Sheriff's Lt. Anothony (Tony) Rossi will be joining the City as Police Chief as of Monday, September 9th, as current Chief Ryan Sullivan departs due to a promotion to Captain within the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department.
Since May, 2024, Rossi has been a Lieutenant assigned as the Facility Commander at the Martinez Detention Facility, having previously served in Orinda from January 2023 to May 2024 assigned as the Detective/ Patrol Sergeant.
He joined the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff in 2006 and has held a number of assignments and special duty positions over the course of his tenure. "We look forward to welcoming Lt. Rossi back to the Orinda team and to his leadership of the department in this new capacity where he can build upon key already established relationships with the community." said City Manager David Biggs.
