Shooting death in Orinda being investigated as homicide

On Thursday morning, Sept. 12, Orinda Police Department officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the area of Las Vegas Road and La Espiral Road.
According to the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office, which provides contractual police services to the City of Orinda, officers arrived on scene and found a gunshot victim. They immediately took life-saving measures. The fire department and an ambulance also responded to the location.
The victim was later pronounced deceased at the scene. He was later identified as Scott Decker, a 50-years-old resident of Truckee and Orinda. The Sheriff's Office says that the other person involved in this case has been interviewed and is no longer being detained pending further investigation. That party to the altercation has not being identified to the public.
It has been confirmed that both parties involved are residents of Orinda. The Sheriff's Office has additionally said that the event was an isolated incident and that there is no further risk to the public.
The crime lab and homicide detectives investigated at the scene, and the investigation is reportedly ongoing.
