Ninth-grade Girl Scouts Riley Lonergan, a student at Carondelet High School, and Catherine Hattersley, a student at Acalanes High School, have been Girl Scouts since kindergarten at Happy Valley Elementary. As they considered their Silver Award project, the highest award a middle school Girl Scout can earn, they looked back on their memories together at Happy Valley, wanting to give back to their elementary school.

For their Silver Award project, they spray-painted a colorful sensory snake path along the transitional kindergarten hallway.  The snake counts from 1 to 100 and is shaped like a snake with a wavy body.  In addition to a self-regulation tool, students can use the snake to learn colors and numbers while jumping or skip-counting on the snake.

Riley and Catherine have taught students how to use the snake so they can teach others how and why to use it.
